That looks like a great way to beautify existing stockade fence as well. A little jigsaw action.

How long would it take to grow ivy like that? I have a small piece growing in my garden and was going to plant more.

becareful with the ivy, it's best to have it on a trellis, it will attach to the fence and cause the wood to break down, it can be a bit invasive. I had some on my fence and had to replace all the boards the ivy had attached to! Grow it on an oblisk type trellis that can't reach the fence. Be dillingent ivy can take over and so can virginia creeper.

You are so right, Melanie. And just when you think you've contained the ivy, a bit more pops up where you least expect it - we found that out last night. However did it grow up under our birdbath and break through the ornamental top?

That's the color of stain that I've been searching for to stain my gothic wooden fence! Anyone know what that shade is called?
