Flower of the Day: Pincushion Flower

Want color all season long? When deadheaded regularly, pincushion flower blooms from late spring to early fall and attracts butterflies and bees. This herbaceous annual or perennial, depending on species and cultivar, should be planted in moist, well-drained soil and full sun. It comes in pink, blue and lavender. Perennial types such as Scabiosa columbaria are hardy in USDA Zones 3 to 7.
