Masterwort (Astrantia major) makes a lovely addition to a cottage or woodland garden. This fast-growing perennial reaches 3 feet tall when it’s in bloom, and grows best in part shade, with moist to wet soil. Masterwort’s fragrant flowers bloom throughout the summer and into fall. It likes mild summers where nighttime temperatures dip below 70 degrees.

Astrantia major produces many small, ivory flowers that are flushed pink and bloom continuously throughout the summer and fall, wafting a sweet scent. Each masterwort blossom is an umbel of tiny flowers, framed by a collar of papery bracts.
