Need to add some spring color to a shady portion of your yard or garden? Consider Jacob’s ladder (Polemonium caeruleum), which is tolerant of partial shade. It grows up to 24 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Plant with plenty of compost and water generously to get it settled. Jacob’s ladder doesn’t tolerate heat and humidity and thrives where summers are cool.
