Flower of the Day: ‘Hidcote’ Lavender

One of the cold hardiest of the English lavenders, ‘Hidcote’ doesn’t do well with the high humidity of the Southeast. This native to the Mediterranean loves a sunny spot that drains well.

When planting, use a soil-based compost mixed with horticultural sand. And raise containers during winter so excess water can drain away.

'Hidcote' can grow to a height of 20 inches and works well in cut-flower and dried-flower arrangements. With its deep, highly scented purple flowers and silver-gray leaves, Hidcote' can be used with other forms of lavender to create a lovely spot to relax within your garden space.
