The flower clusters of joe-pye weed appear in mid to late summer and typically last until hard frost. The
most common types easily reach 6 feet tall, but there are also shorter
species and cultivars. The tallest varieties work well at the back of a
border where they can command attention at the end of summer. Joe-pye
weed needs moist, well-drained soil.
