Tour These Terrific Rose Types 8 photos

Festive hats, mint juleps, horses, and the grounds of Churchill Downs all come to mind when I think about the Kentucky Derby.  This year the Derby celebrates its 139th running.  Each year the winner is presented with a living quilt comprised of red roses and greenery in addition to a beautiful gold trophy.  I found inspiration in these time-honored traditions and created a centerpiece fit for the "Run for the Roses."

Supplies:

  • A waterproof planting vessel
  • Roses
  • Assorted floral greenery
  • Fresh mint sprigs
  • Plastic horse
  • Fresh flower floral foam
  • Sharp knife
  • Scissors
  • Floral wire
  • Red ribbon
  • Water
  • Hot glue gun
